TIGERTAILZ Launches 'School Band' Competition
November 27, 2006Reunited U.K. rockers TIGERTAILZ have launched a competition to find a local "school band" to open their forthcoming show at Cardiff St David's Hall on Saturday, February 10, 2007.
The competition is open to any students who attend a South Wales secondary school and play in a band. The 'TAILZ are keen to use this Cardiff show to promote local Welsh music and introduce young people to the Welsh music scene. The only criteria for entering this great competition is that members of the band need to be attending a Welsh secondary school (not necessarily the same school). Any school band who is interested in this fantastic opportunity and would like to enter needs to send in a demo tape/CD, a short bio and its contact details to:
Tigertailz.co.uk
PO Box 49
Pontypridd
CF37 9WZ
All entries need to be received by Friday, December 22 at the latest. Kim, Jay, Pepsi and Matt will then listen to each demo and choose one band as the competition winners. The winning band will be announced on the TIGERTAILZ web site on Tuesday, January 2, 2007. The prize for the winning band will be to play one or two songs as the first band on the bill at the 'TAILZ show at St David's Hall in Cardiff on Saturday, February 10, 2007. The winners will also be provided with two FREE tickets per band member for the show. Please note: All bands who enter the competition will get FREE tickets for the show just for their effort.
In other news, TIGERTAILZ bassist Pepsi Tate is currently working on what will be the 'TAILZ' first official DVD release. The new DVD (provisionally entitled "Blast") will contain footage from this year's European live shows as well as lots of outtakes, interviews and also the recent promo video "Falling Down". The band hopes to officially release this new DVD at its next live show at Cardiff St David's Hall on Saturday, February 10.
In other news, TIGERTAILZ is in early discussions with a record company about a possible reissue of the original "Wazbones" album. "In many people's opinion, the 'Wazbones' record was the best album the 'TAILZ ever made," reads a posting on the group's web site. "If a deal can be done, this would actually be the first official release of this record as it has never been released in its true form. The later released version was re-recorded with new songs. If agreed, this reissued 'Wazbones' album would feature all the original songs which were recorded in 1991 at Monnow Valley Studios [in] Monmouth, Rockfield Studios [in] Monmouth and Front Page Recorders [in] Costa Mesa, CA, USA. The album featured a 'Clockwork Orange' theme with all the band members decked out in the same clothes as the characters in film. Whilst discussions are at an early stage the band are hopeful a deal can be done and the 'Wazbones' album will be released early 2007."
